چکیده
S29 ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND / VOLUME 6 / SUPPLEMENT 1 / AUGUST 2017 Noble Gatro Hospital, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided pelvic abscess drainage though uncommon modality for definite treatment of pelvic abscess is an effective method of treatment for pelvic abscess due to its proximity to rectal wall. We performed drainage of pelvic abscess in a 65-year-old male with uncontrolled diabetes, abscess was measured 78 mm × 77 mm, drainage was performed using two 10 Fr pigtail stents, spontaneous drainage of entire abscess cavity was noted, and the patient was discharged on the same day on oral antibiotics with dramatic improvement in pain, fever, and total leukocyte count. EUS drainage has an advantage of being a day-care procedure; as compared to percutaneous drainage, no discomfort of external catheter and limited mobility are experienced by the patient. Other modalities such as conventional ultrasonography-guided per rectal/vaginal drainage have disadvantage that stent cannot be placed. DOI: 10.4103/2303-9027.212324

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided choledochoduodenostomy using partially-covered self-expandable metal stent in patients with malignant distal biliary obstruction and unsuccessful ERCP
Background and study aims Endoscopic ultrasound-guided choledochoduodenostomy (EUS-CDS) is an alternative to percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) for patients with malignant distal biliary obstruction in whom ERCP has failed. We studied technical success, clinical success, stent patency rate and occurrence of adverse events in patients undergoing EUS-CDS with partially-covered sel...
متن کاملEndoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Biliary Drainage Using a Fully Covered Metallic Stent after Failed Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography
Background and Study Aims. Endoscopic ultrasound- (EUS-) guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD) is an alternative treatment for biliary obstruction after failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). In this study, we present the outcomes of inpatients with obstructive jaundice treated with EUS-BD using a fully covered metallic stent after failed ERCP. Patients and Methods. A total of...

CONTEXT Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the procedure of choice for biliary decompression in patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer. However, it may be unsuccessful in 3 to 10% of cases. When ERCP is unsuccessful, the usual alternatives are percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage or surgery. Recently, several authors have reported the use of EUS-guided biliary ...
متن کاملEndoscopic ultrasound-guided repositioning of a migrated metal hepatogastrostomy stent using foreign body forceps.
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided hepaticogastrostomy with a fully covered metal stent is an option for malignant biliary obstruction after a failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) [1–3]; however, migration of the stent can be a fatal complication [3, 4]. We report a case in which a migrated stent was successful reset using a foreign body forceps. A 73-year-old woman deve...
متن کاملEndoscopic ultrasound-guided choledochoduodenostomy with novel use of contrast- enhanced harmonic imaging
Since it was first described in 2001 [1], endoscopic ultrasound-guided choledochoduodenostomy (EUS-CDS) has been increasingly used as an alternative for biliary decompression after failed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). EUS-CDS has an overall technical success rate of more than 90% [2, 3], but puncturing the common bile duct (CBD) can be challenging in patients with hemob...
